Roy Oswalt gave up a home run on the second pitch his season. The Line:
7IP 3ER 2HR 2K 3.86ERA
Nice pitcher. Nice career, but I’m not on the “Roy Oswalt, great midseason acquisition” bandwagon. Look at the ERA’s:
2005 2.94
2006 2.98
2007 3.18
2008 3.54
2009 ????
He is 31, barely 6’ and 185 pounds soaking wet -- more importantly approaching the Tim Hudson, Pedro Martinez, Ben Sheets pantheon of pitchers under 6’1 who break down in their early 30’s.
Jake Peavy, 28 next month, still has a few good seasons in him. But mark my words: Peavy will be in this pantheon sooner than later…
The choice: Peavy (for the next 2 years).
